How do we rate

Capital.com entered the market in 2016 and has grown into a trusted broker with a user base spread across the globe. Today, more than 750,000 people trade through its platforms, drawn in by a mix of simplicity and advanced tools. What adds real weight is that it’s regulated by several tier-one authorities, giving traders confidence that their funds and accounts are secure.

In this Capital.com review UK, I’ll take you through how the broker performs day-to-day, from its fees and platforms to customer support. Ultimately, you will decide whether it’s the right fit for your trading style.

In This Guide

Our Opinion about Capital.com

From my experience, what really sets Capital.com apart for UK clients is the level of regulatory protection. The broker’s UK arm is licensed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), one of the most trusted regulators in the world, and this gives me a lot of confidence.

On top of that, the company operates under several other licenses across different regions, including CySEC in Europe and ASIC in Australia, both rated as Tier-1 authorities. This layered oversight shows they take compliance seriously.

When it comes to trading itself, I’ve found the platform flexible and intuitive. Beginners can use the clean web and mobile apps, while advanced traders can rely on MetaTrader 4 or TradingView

Capital.com spreads are competitive, and I like that there are no hidden fees on deposits or withdrawals. I should note, though, there’s no built-in copy trading option, and assets are only available as CFDs and spread betting rather than direct ownership.

Regulatory status is a key indicator of a broker’s safety and reliability. I first examined the entities operating under the Capital.com trade name to evaluate the level of protection offered to traders. I also considered factors such as investor protection, deposit security, securities lending, maximum leverage, and the broker’s regulatory history.

Here are Capital.com’s regulatory entities:

  • Capital Com SV Investments Limited – Licensed and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), license 319/17.
  • Capital Com (UK) Limited – Licensed and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA, UK), license 793714.
  • Capital Com Australia Pty Ltd – Licensed and regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), license 513393.
  • Capital Com MENA Securities Trading L.L.C – Licensed and regulated by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA, UAE), license 20200000176.
  • Capital Com Online Investments Ltd – Licensed and regulated by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SCB), license SIA-F245.

Note that UK clients are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000. Clients under CySEC protection are covered by the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF) up to €20,000. Across all entities, client funds are held in segregated accounts, negative balance protection is guaranteed, and maximum retail leverage of 1:30 is capped to reduce risk exposure.

Fees & Charges

I also reviewed Capital.com’s commissions and fees, including minimum deposits, spreads, and costs for deposits or withdrawals. In my experience, Capital.com is very cost-effective, particularly for UK traders and those starting out. I’ve summarised my findings in the table below.

The broker also supports MetaTrader 4 (MT4), which is widely recognised for advanced charting, automated trading through Expert Advisors (EAs), and flexible order types. Finally, there is TradingView, which is designed for traders who focus on charts and technical indicators.

Account Types

Capital.com UK provides flexible trading account options designed to suit a range of trading styles and experience levels. I discovered a standard account, which allows retail clients to trade CFDs and spread betting with leverage up to 1:30. There’s also a professional account for experienced traders who meet the necessary criteria, providing access to advanced trading tools.

A standout feature is Capital.com’s 1X account, which allows CFD trading with no leverage and no overnight swap fees. I believe it is ideal for traders who prefer a lower-risk, unleveraged approach. In addition, the broker offers a demo account where clients can practise strategies in a simulated environment using virtual funds.

Customer Support

Capital.com provides round-the-clock support, available 24/7 through live chat, email, and an in-platform help centre. During my testing, I found the live chat especially efficient, with responses arriving within seconds and staff able to answer both technical platform questions and trading-related queries. Email support was slightly slower but still timely, usually within a few hours.

The team is knowledgeable, patient, and professional, guiding me through trading account setup, deposits/withdrawals, and navigating the Capital.com trading platform. I also noticed an FAQ page with comprehensive answers to commonly asked questions.

Education & Demo Account

Capital.com provides a solid educational suite suitable for both beginners and more experienced traders. The platform offers a free demo account that mirrors live market conditions, allowing users to practice strategies without risking real money.

Beyond the demo, Capital.com includes an array of learning resources, such as video tutorials, trading courses, market guides, and an extensive glossary of trading terms. Setting Up an Account

To truly experience what Capital.com offers, I had to open my own trading account, and the process was terrific. It was smooth and seamless, with no perceptible challenges. The only thing I had to do was provide personal information and verification documents. That wasn’t a problem because we know all FCA-regulated brokers have KYC requirements to meet.

Here are the steps to setting up an account at Capital.com.

Step 1: Visit the official website or mobile app
Step 2: Enter your email and create a password
Step 3: Provide personal information
Step 4: Confirm your email address
Step 5: Upload proof of identity and address
Step 6: Fund your account
Step 7: Choose your account type and trade

Start by visiting the Capital.com official website or downloading the app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Before proceeding, read and understand the terms of service to avoid future unexpected surprises. Then, click the “Sign Up” button, which is prominently displayed on the homepage.

You’ll be prompted to provide a valid email address. Choose a strong, secure password that combines letters, numbers, and symbols. This will protect your account from unauthorised access. Ensure your password is unique and not used for any other online accounts.

Next, you’ll need to fill in personal details, including your full name, date of birth, location, and phone number. Accuracy is essential because Capital.com will verify these details during the KYC process. Incorrect information can slow down verification.

Capital.com will send a verification email to the address you provided. Open this email and click the confirmation link to activate your account. Without confirming your email, you won’t be able to proceed to funding and trading.

To comply with FCA regulations, UK clients must submit a valid proof of identity, such as a passport or driver’s licence, and proof of address, like a utility bill, bank statement, or government-issued document. This procedure ensures the online financial landscape remains safe from impostors or fraudulent activities. From my experience, the verification process is fast, often completed within a few hours to one business day.

Once verified, you can deposit funds into your trading account. Note that Capital.com minimum deposit requirement for UK clients is £20. It supports multiple payment methods, including credit/debit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, iDEAL, and Trustly. Instant deposits are supported for most digital payment options, so you can start trading immediately.

UK clients can select a standard CFD account or the 1X account. The 1X account is ideal if you want to trade CFDs without leverage or overnight fees, which can help limit risk and simplify trading strategies for beginners.

After funding your account, you’re ready to start trading. Capital.com offers a wide range of CFDs and spread betting instruments. Ensure you are fully prepared to trade your preferred instruments, as there is a risk of losing money. This is especially if you are applying leverage that can leave you with massive losses.

Downsides to Capital.com

Capital.com is a reliable and beginner-friendly broker, but it does have some limitations that traders should be aware of. Overall, these are minor and unlikely to affect most casual or intermediate traders, but they may matter to more advanced users. Key downsides include:

  • No native copy trading – The platform does not support copy trading, and social trading is only available via TradingView.
  • No ETF or direct ownership – UK clients can only trade CFDs and spread betting instruments. Buying and holding real shares or ETFs is not possible.
  • 1X account limitations – The 1X account supports CFD trading with no leverage and no swap fees, but it is not available for spread betting.
  • Limited advanced order types – Some complex orders are only accessible through MT4 or TradingView, not the proprietary platform.
  • No free VPS hosting – Automated trading strategies requiring VPS are not supported natively.

Who is Capital.com right for?

From this Capital.com trading review, it is clear that the broker caters to a wide range of traders. However, its features make it particularly suitable for certain groups. While it offers strong platforms, educational tools, and a broad CFD/spread betting selection, it may not suit investors looking for direct asset ownership or extensive ETF options. Below is a breakdown of who will benefit most from this broker.

Beginners and Novices – Perfect Match

User-friendly interface, demo account, 1X CFD account with no leverage, comprehensive educational resources

High-Frequency Traders – Acceptable Choice

Fast execution and MT4 support, but no free VPS hosting may limit automated strategies
